About Us

The Institute of Indigenous Wellbeing and Sport Aboriginal Corporation (The Institute) is an Aboriginal Community controlled “Not For Profit’ charity governed by a Board of Management.

Over the last 10 years, we have provided culturally safe and appropriate programs targeting Indigenous youth who are at high risk of disengaging from the education system, and who are vulnerable to exclusion from participating with sporting programs.

Our main project is an in-school program called Young Achievers Club (YAC), where we deliver to 11 primary schools across the Perth Region. The aim of YAC is to work collaboratively with the school system and to support and mentor students in order to improve school performance including attendance, academic achievement and behaviour.

The Institute aims is to develop partnerships in the future that maximise opportunities for Aboriginal Australians living within Western Australia to participate in sport and recreation in order to produce health, education, social and cultural benefits for individuals and their respective communities.
